The Tanzania Professional Boxing Coaches Association (TPBCA) has announced a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening engagement between boxing stakeholders and the media through the introduction of the country’s first-ever Boxing Media Day.

The historic event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 15, at Chorila Boxing Gym in Manzese Tiptop, Dar es Salaam, starting at 6:00 PM.

According to TPBCA, this initiative marks a significant milestone in the development of boxing in Tanzania, providing a structured platform where coaches and boxers will directly interact with journalists at their training facilities.

The association said the Boxing Media Day is designed to enhance the visibility of the sport, highlight the efforts of local coaches, and give boxers an opportunity to showcase their talent while sharing their journeys, challenges, and ambitions with the public through the media.

TPBCA noted that this is the first time in the history of Tanzanian boxing that such a dedicated media engagement platform is being introduced within gym environments, bringing together coaches, athletes, and journalists in a more open and interactive setting.

The initiative is also expected to open new opportunities for recognition, sponsorship, and professional development for both coaches and boxers, while strengthening communication between the boxing community and sports stakeholders.

In addition, TPBCA confirmed that the Boxing Media Day will not be a one-time event. It will be held once every month, rotating across different gyms belonging to coaches recognized by the association, in order to ensure wider inclusion and equal exposure across the boxing community.

The association has invited journalists from all media houses to attend the inaugural event and support efforts aimed at elevating boxing coverage and contributing to the growth of the sport in the country.

TPBCA expressed confidence that the initiative will play a key role in reshaping the image of boxing in Tanzania through consistent media engagement and stronger collaboration between the press and sports stakeholders.

The statement was issued by the Information and Communications Manager of TPBCA, Dauka Abrahamu Somba.
