The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority has intensified its domestic tourism promotion campaign in Dodoma, targeting schools, institutions and key stakeholders as part of broader efforts to boost awareness of conservation and the country’s rich tourism offerings.

Through its liaison office in Dodoma, the Authority has been rolling out outreach programmes aimed at educating the public on environmental conservation while marketing the diverse attractions found within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Head of the liaison office, Chief Conservation Officer Lowaeli Damalu, said the initiative focuses on the central zone regions, including Singida and Dodoma, with special attention given to students and learning institutions.

He said sustained public education is critical in building a generation that understands and values conservation, noting that students are key agents in passing knowledge to future generations and safeguarding the country’s natural heritage.

“These efforts are aimed at ensuring young people become strong ambassadors of conservation and tourism, which are vital sectors for Tanzania’s sustainable development,” he said.

Dodoma City Special Education Officer, Issa Kambi, welcomed the initiative, saying it demonstrates a commitment to empowering students with knowledge that goes beyond the classroom.

He noted that integrating conservation education with tourism promotion helps instill environmental responsibility among young people, who are expected to play a central role in the country’s future development.

Students from several schools, including Dodoma Primary School for the Deaf, expressed gratitude for the programme, pledging to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness of Tanzania’s tourism attractions within their communities.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area remains one of the country’s leading tourist destinations, known for its unique blend of wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage.

Visitors to the area can also explore globally significant archaeological sites such as Olduvai Gorge and Laetoli, both of which have provided critical insights into early human history.

The ongoing campaign underscores growing efforts to strengthen domestic tourism while deepening public understanding of conservation as a pillar of national development.
