TanTrade trains university students on business opportunities

By The Respondents Reporter

The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has stepped up efforts to equip university students with business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills as part of initiatives to nurture a new generation of traders capable of tapping opportunities in both local and international markets.

The move was highlighted on March 24, 2026 when students from the Tanzania University Students Association (TAUSE) visited TanTrade headquarters in Dar es Salaam for an educational tour aimed at exposing them to the authority’s role in promoting trade and supporting entrepreneurs.

During the visit, TanTrade officials briefed the students on the institution’s mandate and the various services it provides to support business growth.

These include facilitating participation in trade fairs, linking local businesses to markets and providing information on trade opportunities within and outside Tanzania.

The officials said the engagement with students is part of TanTrade’s broader strategy to empower young entrepreneurs and build their capacity to understand how the business environment operates.

They noted that many university students are already venturing into small businesses and therefore require guidance on how to expand their enterprises and access wider markets.

The students were also introduced to opportunities available through trade exhibitions organized by TanTrade, including local and international trade fairs that enable businesses to showcase their products and build networks with potential buyers and investors.

TanTrade said exposing students to such opportunities at an early stage helps prepare them to participate effectively in the country’s growing business sector while also contributing to economic development.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to continue working with higher learning institutions to strengthen entrepreneurship knowledge among students and support them in turning their business ideas into sustainable enterprises.

Through such initiatives, TanTrade hopes to inspire more young people to venture into business and take advantage of emerging trade opportunities in Tanzania and beyond.
