Samia allocates CAF office space at JNCC in Dar

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has allocated office space for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, a step expected to strengthen coordination of football activities on the continent and support preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda said the government had earlier requested CAF to establish an office in Tanzania to facilitate the coordination of football-related programmes in Africa.

He said President Samia approved the request and allocated office space within the convention centre to host the CAF office.

Makonda explained that the idea was discussed with CAF officials when they visited Tanzania for a meeting, during which the government proposed the establishment of the office in Dar es Salaam.

He noted that the facility will play an important role in supporting planning and coordination ahead of the 2027 AFCON tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.

According to Makonda, the office will also facilitate closer collaboration between CAF and football stakeholders in the region as preparations for the continental tournament gather momentum.
