The Mining Commission has released the latest indicative mineral prices for January 26, 2026, showing strong performance for both gold and silver on the world and local markets.
According to the official figures, gold continues to trade at a significant premium globally, reflecting sustained demand and strong investor confidence in the precious metal.
The world market price of gold stands at USD 5,000.10 per troy ounce, translating to approximately TZS 401,839.02 per gram.
On the domestic front, the Mineral Market Price has been set at TZS 361,655.12 per gram, while the Buying Centre Price the rate commonly applied in local transactions is TZS 353,618.34 per gram.
Silver has also recorded notable gains, though at comparatively lower levels than gold. The world market price of silver is USD 103.33 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 8,304.24 per gram.
Locally, the Mineral Market Price stands at TZS 7,473.82 per gram, with the Buying Centre Price set at TZS 7,307.73 per gram.
The Mining Commission explained that the pricing structure follows a tiered system. The World Market Price represents the highest benchmark, reflecting international trading conditions.
The Mineral Market Price incorporates adjustments for local regulatory factors, while the Buying Centre Price reflects additional deductions such as taxes, royalties, and processing costs applied within Tanzania.
