Ngorongoro wonders take center stage in Safari Field Challenge

By The Respondents Reporter

Ngorongoro continues to live up to the Swahili saying, “The world is a palace of wonders,” as the iconic conservation area prepares to host the 2026 Safari Field Challenge finals.

Eight top tour guides, selected through a rigorous screening process, will compete in the prestigious event designed to test their expertise and skills across the park’s most remarkable sites.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), which is sponsoring the event, said the competition will allow the finalists to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, resilience, and problem-solving abilities in real safari scenarios.

The challenge also highlights their capacity to navigate and engage visitors with the area’s extraordinary wildlife and natural landscapes.

Speaking on behalf of the NCAA Commissioner of Conservation, Senior Assistant Commissioner for Tourism and Marketing Mariam Kobelo said the event aims to show the world that Ngorongoro is much more than its famous crater.

“It is a hub of natural beauty, cultural heritage, wildlife diversity, and historical significance, where the first breaths of migrating buffalo converge in one place,” she said.

Tour guides, she added, are vital ambassadors of Tanzania’s tourism sector. “Through the Safari Field Challenge, they will gain firsthand experience of Ngorongoro’s wonders and share them with visitors, helping to promote the area internationally,” Commissioner Kobelo said.

Ngorongoro is increasingly recognized as a natural Eden, carrying the story of human evolution and the ecosystems that have shaped life on Earth.

The Safari Field Challenge is organized by the Tour Guides’ Association of Tanzania (TTGF) in partnership with Azam Media and other tourism stakeholders.
