Tanzania’s Minister of State in the President’s Office (Special Duties), Palamagamba John Kabudi, has met Botswana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Phenyo Butale, in London to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation between their countries.
The meeting took place on March 8, 2026 on the sidelines of the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Commonwealth of Nations, which brought together ministers from member states to deliberate on global issues and shared development priorities.
During the talks, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding diplomatic and historical ties between Tanzania and Botswana.
They also explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in several key sectors, including political cooperation, economic development, social affairs and education, with the aim of promoting mutual benefits for both nations.
The leaders further agreed on the need to work closely in addressing emerging challenges in the rapidly changing global environment, including technological developments, economic shifts and evolving political trends worldwide.
Prof Kabudi was accompanied at the meeting by the Presidential Adviser on Diplomatic Affairs, Lazaro Nyalandu, Tanzania’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mbelwa Kairuki, and the Director of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Noel Kaganda.
