The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has received a proposal from the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) regarding a special program to enable graduates of the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) to access loans for developing businesses they started after graduation.

Presenting the information in Dodoma on March 11, 2026, BOT representative Dr. Martin Geniune said the government has allocated TZS 200 billion to empower skilled young people who have completed training at VETA institutions.

Dr. Geniune emphasized that the program goes beyond simply providing loans; it will also assist youth in developing business ideas, preparing business plans, and completing the necessary procedures to secure funding.

Speaking on the initiative, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, praised BOT for launching the program, noting that it will help expand employment opportunities for young people.

He added that the initiative aligns with the government’s strategy of linking educational institutions with industries, aiming to enable graduates to utilize practical skills to become self-employed and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
