A total of 521 Tanzanian youths have secured employment opportunities abroad, including 45 who will work in several European countries, in the government’s continued efforts to expand access to decent jobs through safe labour migration programmes.

The youths were officially seen off on March 27, 2026 in Dar es Salaam by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability, Mr Deus Sangu.

Speaking at the event, Mr Sangu said the government has been strengthening partnerships with friendly countries as well as regional and international institutions to open more employment opportunities for Tanzanians abroad while ensuring their rights and welfare are protected.

He said the initiative is part of broader efforts by the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan to create employment opportunities for young people and enable them to participate in the global labour market.

Mr Sangu assured the youths that the government has put in place mechanisms to safeguard Tanzanians working abroad, urging them to represent the country well and remain disciplined in their workplaces.

Director of the Employment Department, Ms Jane Sologo, said the 521 youths will work in countries including Denmark, Poland, Germany, Bosnia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

She commended private recruitment agencies for working with the government to connect Tanzanian job seekers with opportunities abroad, noting that such partnerships have helped strengthen safe and legal labour migration.

Chairperson of the Tanzania Recruitment Agencies Association, Mr Abdallah Khaled Mohamed, said collaboration between the government and recruitment agencies has improved transparency and efficiency in facilitating overseas employment.

Among the departing youths is Raila Shabani, a graduate of Sokoine University of Agriculture who is travelling to Denmark for work. She said the opportunity will allow her to gain valuable skills and experience while improving her economic prospects.

She encouraged other young Tanzanians to remain prepared to take advantage of employment opportunities that arise through government programmes.

During the event, Mr Sangu also revealed that the government has secured additional overseas job opportunities and will soon announce 300 positions for Tanzanian nurses to work in Saudi Arabia starting early April 2026.

He said the initiative is part of the Sixth Phase Government’s strategy to expand employment opportunities for Tanzanians and strengthen their contribution to the country’s economic growth.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue improving systems that enable Tanzanians to access overseas jobs through safe, legal and well-regulated migration channels.
