Tanzania is set to host the Hortilogistica Africa regional meeting in November 2026 in Arusha, a move aimed at positioning the country as a leading producer of fruits and vegetables on the continent.

The conference will gather stakeholders from across the horticulture value chain to discuss investment opportunities, trade, tourism, and transport, while sharing experiences to boost productivity and business growth.

Organizers say the platform will showcase Tanzania as Africa’s horticulture hub, creating new economic opportunities for farmers, investors, and the private sector.

Speaking at a preparatory meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture offices in Mtumba, Dodoma,  Daniel Chongolo (MP), Minister of Agriculture, thanked

Prof. Kitila Alexander Mkumbo (MP), Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, for pledging support to ensure the event delivers concrete benefits not only for agriculture but also for wider business and investment sectors.

Prof. Kitila highlighted that the conference should emphasize expanding investment in production, developing markets, and encouraging cross-sector collaboration to accelerate national development.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gerald Mweli, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, said the joint planning between the Ministry and the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) demonstrates the Government’s commitment to public-private partnerships.

He added that TAHA has been a key player in the sector, citing its role in major events such as the Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Fred Msemwa, Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office for Investment, alongside representatives from TAHA and the Crop Production and Regulation Authority (COPRA).
