The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has opened invitations for the public to participate in the WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) Stocktaking, Prizes, and Photo Contests 2026

Organized in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), these initiatives aim to promote innovative ICT solutions that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The WSIS Stocktaking initiative serves as a global repository for ICT projects, recognizing initiatives that align with WSIS Action Lines and contribute to the SDGs.

Stakeholders from government agencies, the private sector, civil society, regional institutions, and academia are encouraged to submit projects or initiatives leveraging ICT for sustainable development.

Nominated projects for the WSIS Prizes 2026 will be announced on 11th April, with stakeholder voting closing on 30th April, and the prize ceremony scheduled for 6th July.

Each submission must be unique per entity, and stakeholders may nominate projects even if they do not own them.

Winning projects will be highlighted in the WSIS Stocktaking Success Stories 2026, while all submissions will appear in the WSIS Stocktaking Report 2026.

The WSIS Photo Contest invites everyone to submit photographs that illustrate how ICT is enabling progress toward the SDGs.

The three winning photographs will be showcased at the WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event. The submission deadlines are 15th March for the WSIS Prizes and 20th March for the Photo Contest, with full details available on the official WSIS website.

Issued by Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari, Director General of TCRA, on 5th February 2026, this initiative emphasizes the importance of ICT in driving sustainable development and encourages wide public participation across all sectors.
