By Victoria Godfrey

More than 90 referees have confirmed their participation in a swimming clinic set for February 28 at the New Library Hall, University of Dar es Salaam.

Jeremiah Keema, Director of Prime Sports Agency, told The Respondent Online that the turnout has exceeded expectations. He noted that some referees will travel from abroad, including from Kenya, to take part in the clinic.

Mr. Keema said preparations are progressing smoothly, adding that the main objective is to update referees on recent changes in swimming rules and strengthen their professional skills to keep pace with developments in the sport.

“The goal is to ensure referees have a thorough understanding of the rules and their interpretations. This will improve the quality of competitions and enhance competitiveness,” he said.

He emphasized that the training is part of a wider strategy to grow and promote swimming in Tanzania, ensuring that all stakeholders gain accurate knowledge and skills that contribute to the sport’s development nationwide.
