Staff of the Mbeya District Council have received specialized training on mental health and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), aiming to improve awareness of personal well-being and preventive health practices.

The training was led by Dr. Garvin Kweka from Muhimbili National Hospital, focusing on the importance of mental health, recognizing early signs of psychological challenges, and preventing common non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and heart disease.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Kweka highlighted that mental health is a key factor in employee wellness and plays a critical role in workplace performance.

He advised staff to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, stress management, and regular health check-ups.

The initiative is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to enhance staff well-being, ensuring they remain healthy, motivated, and capable of delivering high-quality services to the community.
