Tanzanian investor Jema Jione Ltd has successfully leveraged government investment incentives to expand its operations in Katavi Region, creating jobs and boosting local economic activity.
The company, which specializes in gold and copper extraction and produces concentrates for export, was registered with the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) on February 23, 2023.
With a total investment of TZS 1 billion, Jema Jione Ltd currently employs 100 Tanzanians and produces an average of two tonnes of concentrates per month. The company also operates branches in Geita, Kahama, Chunya, Muheza, and Mvomero.
Speaking during a visit by TISEZA’s investment promotion team, Project Manager Mr. Quintus Kasese said the company benefited from a 75% customs duty waiver on imported production equipment and 40 transportation trucks.
“This incentive allowed us to save costs and expand our operations. Initially, we planned to install four processing plants, but now we have six thanks to the support from TISEZA,” he said.
TISEZA Investment Promotion Manager Mr. Felix John praised the investor and urged other Tanzanians to take advantage of similar incentives.
He also invited regional investors to attend a seminar tomorrow at the Regional Commissioner’s Office to learn more about available opportunities and investment procedures.
The Jema Jione Ltd story highlights the potential of domestic investment in Katavi and demonstrates how government support can help Tanzanian businesses grow, create jobs, and contribute to national export revenue.
