Five Tanzanian athletes are set to showcase the nation on the international stage tomorrow, February 8, 2026, by competing in prestigious races in Saudi Arabia and India.

The move is part of ongoing efforts to promote Tanzania globally and strengthen the country’s presence in athletics.

Long-distance star Alphonce Felix Simbu will take part in the Burj 2 Burj Half Marathon in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Boay Dawi, Inyasi Sulle, Valentine Lazaro, and Annastazia Ndolomongo are set to compete in the Alwar International Half Marathon in India.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Tanzania Athletics Federation (TAF), Alfredo Shahanga, confirmed that the athletes’ preparations are complete and that they are in top form for the competitions.

Shahanga expressed confidence in the athletes, noting that their preparation program included rigorous high-level training, mental conditioning, and thorough performance assessments prior to departure.

“These competitions are a key opportunity for our athletes to measure themselves against international competitors, gain experience, raise their performance levels, and promote Tanzania positively on the world stage,” Shahanga said.

He encouraged the athletes to give their best and return with strong results, including medals.
