Dr. Rahma Mahfoudh assumes role as Deputy Governor of BoT

The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has welcomed its new Deputy Governor in charge of Administration and Internal Control, Dr. Rahma Salim Mahfoudh, who arrived at the central bank’s Dar es Salaam branch on Monday to begin her official duties.

Dr. Mahfoudh was received by BoT Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Tutuba, alongside senior management officials, in a ceremony that underscored the central bank’s commitment to strong governance, transparency, and operational efficiency.

In her new role, Dr. Mahfoudh is expected to oversee the bank’s administrative functions and internal control systems, ensuring that BoT’s operations adhere to the highest standards of accountability. 

Senior officials described her appointment as a key step in strengthening the institution’s oversight and management processes.

Governor Tutuba welcomed Dr. Mahfoudh, highlighting her extensive experience in financial management and institutional governance, which he said would contribute to enhancing the efficiency and integrity of BoT’s operations. 

“We are confident that her leadership will drive further improvements in the bank’s internal administration and support our strategic objectives,” he said.

Dr. Mahfoudh’s appointment comes at a time when BoT is intensifying efforts to modernize its internal systems, strengthen oversight mechanisms, and ensure robust institutional performance in line with national economic priorities.

As she takes on her responsibilities, Dr. Mahfoudh is expected to implement key initiatives to streamline administrative procedures, strengthen internal controls, and support the central bank’s mandate of maintaining financial stability and public trust.

Her arrival reinforces BoT’s ongoing commitment to effective leadership, accountability, and professional excellence at all levels of the institution.
