Secondary school heads and education officials from Arusha District have completed a three-day strategic leadership and school management training organized by the Academy for Education Development and Management (ADEM) at Bagamoyo from February 24–26, 2026.

The training, officially closed by ADEM Chief Executive Officer Dr. Maulid J. Maulid, focused on equipping education leaders with the skills to drive effective, innovative, and inclusive leadership in their schools.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Maulid urged them to prioritize strategic decision-making and institutional change as key drivers of development.

He highlighted the importance of involving stakeholders, listening to community views, and fostering trust and accountability in school management.

“I urge you to be visionary leaders capable of making strategic decisions and managing changes effectively. You are the ones who will drive real transformation in your schools,” he said.

Dr. Lucas Mzelela, Deputy Principal for Academic, Research, and Advisory at ADEM, explained that the training aimed to empower education leaders with practical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage schools efficiently to achieve meaningful improvements in the education sector.

Mr. Omari Nyangu, Chairman of TAHOSSA in Arusha, praised ADEM for its professional approach in conducting the training.

He stressed that advancing the education sector requires investment in building the capacities of school leaders, noting that the knowledge gained provides clear direction for effective school management.

Participants were trained on good governance in education, school development planning, curriculum implementation oversight, student welfare and safety, community engagement, school resource management, protocol and service standards, and monitoring and evaluation of school activities.

The program is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership in Tanzania’s education sector and ensure that schools operate efficiently, transparently, and inclusively.
