The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has released the forecast for the next 24 hours, starting 9:00 PM on January 2, 2026, highlighting varied weather across the country.
Parts of southern, western, and lake-zone regions including Lindi, Mtwara, Southern Morogoro, Kigoma, Tabora, Katavi, Rukwa, Songwe, Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma, Kagera, Geita, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Mara, and Simiyu will experience partly cloudy skies with thundershowers in some areas, interspersed with sunny periods.
The central regions of Dodoma and Singida are forecasted to have partly cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers alongside sunny intervals.
Meanwhile, Unguja and Pemba, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Northern Morogoro, Pwani (including Mafia Isles), Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Manyara will see partly cloudy and sunny weather, with dry conditions prevailing.
Temperatures will vary across the country. Njombe will record a high of 20°C and a low of 12°C, while Mbeya will range between 25°C and 14°C. Arusha and Kigoma will experience highs of 28°C, with lows of 18°C and 20°C, respectively.
Dodoma is expected to see temperatures between 19°C and 30°C, while Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar will remain hot, with highs of 32°C and lows of 25°C.
The sun rises earliest at 6:11 AM in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, and latest at 6:53 AM in Kigoma. Sunset will occur between 6:33 PM and 7:15 PM depending on the region.
Marine and Coastal Outlook
Coastal winds are expected at 30 km/h, blowing from the North East along the northern coast and from the North along the southern coast. Sea conditions are expected to remain moderate.
TMA notes that slight changes are expected on Sunday, January 4, 2026, with similar weather patterns continuing across the country.
Residents and travelers are advised to take precautions in regions expecting thundershowers, particularly in western, southern, and lake-zone areas, where sudden rainfall may disrupt travel and outdoor activities.
