The Director General of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), Crispin Chalamila, has briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Administration, Constitution, and Legal Affairs on the agency’s mandate, powers, and organizational structure.
He appeared on behalf of the Minister of State in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete.
The briefing, held in Dodoma on June 19, 2026, aimed to strengthen the capacity of the newly established committee in the 13th Parliament, enabling it to effectively oversee institutions under the President’s Office.
Mr. Chalamila outlined PCCB’s core responsibilities, including preventing and investigating corruption, educating the public on the dangers of corruption, and advising the government on systems and procedures that can close gaps in both public and private sectors.
He also explained the agency’s structure, covering the headquarters, regional and district offices, and specialized units.
Committee members engaged actively, raising questions and offering recommendations to improve the agency’s performance.
They stressed the importance of monitoring development projects at all stages to ensure proper use of funds in line with laws and procedures.
The committee also emphasized the need for legal protection for whistleblowers and witnesses, calling it a critical tool in strengthening the fight against corruption.
Concluding the session, Minister Kikwete assured the committee that their guidance and recommendations would be considered to enhance PCCB’s efficiency and support the ongoing national anti-corruption efforts.
