The Ilemela Municipal Council welcomed participants of the 14th group of the National Defence College (NDC) course for an intensive learning visit aimed at understanding local government service delivery.

The visit provided an opportunity for the NDC participants to observe firsthand how municipal authorities implement policies, plans, and strategies while delivering essential services to citizens. It also offered practical lessons on executing development projects at the local level.

Led by Brigadier General Method Matunda, the delegation engaged in a comprehensive learning programme covering key aspects of Ilemela Municipality.

The participants explored the municipality’s history, revenue collection systems, economic activities, and the provision of social services, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. Investment opportunities within the municipality were also highlighted during the visit.

Beyond Ilemela, the delegation will tour strategic projects across Mwanza region, including Mwanza Airport, Songoro Workshop, TASHICO, TARI–Ukiriguru, and the Magufuli Bridge, further broadening their understanding of regional development initiatives.

The visit reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening knowledge-sharing and capacity-building among leaders, ensuring that lessons from practical local governance can inform national decision-making.
