The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals has praised the Ministry of Energy for remarkable achievements in the first 100 days of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, including the electrification of 9,009 villages a milestone that reflects the Government’s strong commitment to improving energy access across Tanzania.

The commendation came on January 20, 2026, in Dodoma, during a meeting between the Ministry, its agencies, and the Parliamentary Committee.

The session aimed to brief MPs on the Ministry’s structure, responsibilities, policies, and laws guiding the energy sector.

Committee Chairperson, Subira Mgalu, said the Ministry’s achievements demonstrate the Government’s determination to ensure reliable and sustainable energy for all Tanzanians.

“I congratulate the Ministry of Energy and its institutions for the excellent work carried out within the first 100 days of President Samia’s leadership. The launch of the Mtera Power Station will strengthen electricity supply in Dodoma and Iringa, while the electrification of 9,009 villages shows real progress in bringing power closer to citizens,”  Mgalu said.

He highlighted plans to fully harness Tanzania’s energy resources to generate 8,000 megawatts by 2030 and raise per capita electricity consumption to 3,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) by 2050.

On clean cooking energy, Hon. Ndejembi said the Ministry continues to educate citizens on the benefits of clean solutions, expand access points, and promote environmentally friendly technologies.

He added that the Ministry will continue collaborating closely with the Parliamentary Committee, taking its advice and recommendations into account to strengthen the energy sector and boost national development.
