The government is set to pay TZS 6.02 billion in compensation to 347 residents of Lifua, Liugai, and Masimavalafu villages in Ludewa District, Njombe Region, following the implementation of a major electricity project.

Energy Minister, Deogratius Ndejembi, told Parliament yesterday that the compensation assessment was completed by December 2025 and is now ready for verification and the public disclosure of beneficiaries.

He made the announcement during the first sitting of the Second Session of the 13th Parliament, responding to a question from Ludewa MP Hon. Joseph Kamonga, who asked when residents of Liugai Village, Luilo Ward, would receive their compensation to enable smooth progress of the electricity project.

Minister Ndejembi assured lawmakers that the government is committed to ensuring that the verification and payment process is carried out transparently and promptly, so that affected communities fully benefit from the development initiative.

“This project is a key part of our energy expansion plans, and we want to make sure that no resident is left behind,” he said.
