The Ministry of Finance is advancing efforts to strengthen accountability and performance management as members of its Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Steering Committee continue with an intensive orientation seminar in Morogoro.
The training is aimed at equipping committee members with the knowledge and technical skills required to enhance the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation reports, which play a critical role in guiding policy decisions and improving institutional performance.
A total of nine committee members are undergoing the programme, and are expected to provide high-level strategic guidance by analysing M&E findings to reinforce transparency, improve service delivery, and boost overall efficiency within the Ministry and its subordinate institutions.
Facilitators from the Centre of Excellence in Monitoring and Evaluation at Mzumbe University are leading the sessions, providing expertise on data-driven decision-making, performance tracking frameworks, and best practices in results-based management.
The establishment of the M&E Steering Committee reflects the government’s broader commitment to strengthening evidence-based planning and ensuring public resources deliver measurable development outcomes.
The committee is set to be officially launched on January 24, 2026, at Cate Hotels in Morogoro, marking a significant step toward institutionalising stronger performance oversight and governance within the Ministry of Finance.
