The Fair Competition Commission (FCC) is stepping up practical cooperation with the Zanzibar Fair Competition Commission (ZFCC) to safeguard consumer rights, fight counterfeit products, and promote a healthy business environment.
Acting Director General of FCC, Ms. Khadija Ngasongwa, visited ZFCC on January 14, 2026, where she was warmly received by Acting Director General of ZFCC, Ms. Aliya Juma.
The visit focused on implementing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions and enhancing joint efforts in consumer protection and market regulation.
“FCC and ZFCC have already begun translating our agreement into action through capacity building, experience sharing, and joint inspections aimed at tackling counterfeit goods and safeguarding consumers’ rights,” Ms. Ngasongwa said.
During the visit, both sides also discussed strategies to improve operational systems, strengthen information sharing, and advance collaborative initiatives to ensure efficiency in service delivery.
The meeting concluded with a firm commitment from both institutions to continue working together to maintain a competitive, safe, and consumer-friendly business environment in Zanzibar and across Tanzania.
