The Dar es Salaam Regional Football Association (DRFA) has announced plans to increase the number of teams from the region competing in top-tier leagues, including the First League, in the upcoming season.

DRFA Chairman, Lameck Nyambaya, made the announcement following the conclusion of the Dar es Salaam Regional League, which wrapped up yesterday.

The league produced three teams set to represent the region in the Regional Champions League, a nationwide competition bringing together champions from various regions.

Nyambaya urged the selected teams to start preparations early to enhance competitiveness and maximize their chances of success in higher-level competitions.

“DRFA is committed to supporting you every step of the way. If you face any challenges, let us know so we can address them together. Our goal is to ensure you perform excellently and proudly represent Dar es Salaam,” Nyambaya said.

He described the recently concluded season as highly competitive and well-organized, highlighting the strong collaboration between the Competitions Committee and the Executive Committee as a key factor behind the league’s success.

With the regional league concluded, DRFA is now focusing on other tournaments, including the U20, U15, and the regional women’s league, as part of its broader plan to strengthen football development across all levels.

Ramadhan Shauritanga, Chairman of DRFA’s Competitions Committee, praised the league for its professionalism and transparency.

“We ran this league with integrity, fairness, and discipline. There were no major complaints, the competition concluded smoothly, and all prizes were awarded as planned,” Shauritanga said.

Competition this season was fierce, with 28 teams participating and only three earning the right to represent the region in the national tournament.

Friends Rangers, winners of the 2025/2026 Dar es Salaam Regional League, credited their success to discipline, commitment, and adherence to coaching instructions.

“The season was tough, with every team well-prepared. We focused on our strategy and discipline, and this time we are starting preparations early to aim even higher,” said head coach Jabir Aziz.

The other two teams representing Dar es Salaam in the Regional Champions League are Dira FC and Mshikamano Talent.
