Tanzania is showcasing its energy ambitions on the global stage as Deputy Minister of Energy, Salome Makamba, leads the country’s delegation at the India Energy Week (IEW 2026).
The annual event, inaugurated today in Goa by India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, brings together leaders, investors, and energy experts from more than 125 countries. It serves as a platform to discuss sustainable energy strategies, promote inclusive growth in the sector, and identify investment opportunities worldwide.
Salome is accompanied by Tanzanian Ambassador to India, Anisa Mbega; Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Dr. James Andilile; Assistant Commissioner for Electricity Development, Mr. Styden Rwebangila; and technical teams from the Ministry of Energy, Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), and the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA).
Tanzania’s participation signals the Government’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, attracting strategic investment, and leveraging new technologies to drive the country’s energy sector toward sustainable development.
“The world is moving fast in energy innovation. Tanzania is ready to explore partnerships that ensure our growth is both sustainable and inclusive,” Salome said during the opening session.
With global energy demands rising and climate concerns intensifying, IEW 2026 offers Tanzania a platform to position itself as a competitive and forward-looking energy partner, aligning with its vision for a modern, resilient, and green energy sector.
