Popular political commentator Clemence Mwandambo, widely known as Baba Yenu Mwandambo, has reaffirmed his strong support for President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, describing her leadership as decisive and transformative.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Jambo TV, Mwandambo expressed shock at campaigns calling for the President’s removal, branding them as baseless and lacking credible leadership alternatives.
“I respect President Samia and her work,” Mwandambo said. “My support comes from her outstanding performance. I cannot be part of a group demanding the President step down without valid reasons.”
He added, “I admire President Samia as a person, and I value her leadership. I cannot support the youths shouting ‘Samia must go.’ If she leaves, who will take over? It is not those making noise who will sit in her place.”
Though a longstanding member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) since the era of the late President Dr. John Magufuli, Mwandambo describes himself as a patriot first, putting truth and national interest above party loyalty.
He acknowledges having a “spirit of opposition,” which he uses to challenge policies or actions he considers unfair.
“I carry a CCM card, but I also have a spirit of opposition. I am loyal to the country, not just the party. When I see something wrong, I cannot stay silent; I must speak up,” he said.
Mwandambo also urged politicians to embrace public scrutiny and stop rejecting dissenting opinions as arrogance.
Through his widely viewed videos, he amplifies citizens’ voices, compensating for his absence from formal government decision-making. Yet, he expressed frustration that some leaders dismiss opposing views.
“Unfortunately, some politicians are arrogant. They refuse to hear ideas that differ from theirs. If you present a different perspective, they see it as pride. I may raise my voice through my videos, but often, my views are ignored,” he noted.
Mwandambo’s stance is being hailed as a mark of political maturity—a ruling party member willing to defend his President while upholding accountability, justice, and honest counsel when needed.
