Azam FC, TRA United set for high-stakes NBC Premier League showdown

Azam FC and TRA United have both expressed confidence ahead of their NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League clash scheduled for today at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam, with each side targeting a crucial three-point victory.

Azam FC Assistant Coach Addis Worku said his team is fully prepared despite having limited time for match preparations. He emphasized the club’s strength, noting that Azam boasts talented players capable of creating and capitalizing on scoring opportunities.

“Azam is a big club with quality players. Our main task will be to create chances and use them effectively to score goals,” Worku said.

He also praised Azam’s supporters for their continued loyalty, recalling the backing the team received during their recent trip to Nairobi.

“Our fans stood by us in Nairobi, and their support was motivating. We urge them to come out in large numbers again and rally behind the team,” he added.

Azam FC midfielder Nathaniel Chilambo echoed the coach’s confidence, saying players understand the significance of the fixture. 

While acknowledging the experience and competitiveness of TRA United, he expressed optimism about delivering a strong performance.

“We know the importance of this match. TRA United are experienced opponents, but we believe in our ability to get a positive result and make our fans proud,” Chilambo said.


Meanwhile, TRA United Head Coach Etienne Ndarayagije revealed that his squad is injury-free and has completed intensive preparations in Tabora. 

He noted that the team continues to improve as players build stronger on-field chemistry, with recent positive results boosting morale and confidence.

“Our team is growing and becoming more united. The recent good results have strengthened our belief, and our target is clear to collect all three points,” Ndarayagije said.

TRA United player Omari Yusuph said his side respects Azam FC’s status as a major club but remains determined to compete aggressively and secure a favorable outcome.

“We respect Azam FC, but we have prepared well and are ready to fight for a good result,” Yusuph said, urging fans to attend the match in large numbers to support the team.

The encounter is expected to draw significant attention as both clubs look to strengthen their league standings in what promises to be a thrilling and competitive fixture.
