Tanzanians can expect better access to goods and smoother trade services as cooperation deepens between the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC).
This assurance came today, December 8, 2025, when TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, met with TASAC Director General, Mr. Mohamed Malick Salum, in Dar es Salaam to review progress in improving cargo movement at the country’s ports.
Mr. Mwenda said TASAC’s reforms have made it easier for goods to enter and leave the ports, helping businesses avoid unnecessary costs and reducing delays that often affect consumers.
“Efficient cargo handling benefits every Tanzanian,” he said. “When goods are cleared on time, traders can pay their taxes promptly, and citizens receive products without extra costs caused by long waiting periods. This efficiency supports stable prices and strengthens our national economy.”he added
Mr. Salum praised TRA for modernising customs services and emphasised that strong coordination between the two institutions is essential to protect the interests of ordinary people who rely on timely supplies.
“Our collaboration aims to ensure that traders get reliable, fast, and predictable services,” he said. “When the process is smooth, citizens enjoy better service delivery and greater availability of goods.”
The TRA–TASAC partnership continues to improve maritime transport and trade systems, ensuring that port operations are more transparent, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the nation.
Officials say the joint effort is a key driver of improved service delivery and a better business environment ultimately benefiting citizens across Tanzania.
