The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has imposed TSh5 million fines on Namungo FC and Coastal Union after identifying several disciplinary violations in their recent NBC Premier League encounters.

Namungo received their penalty following a 1–0 win against Mbeya City. According to a TPLB statement, some Namungo players were spotted pouring unidentified substances on the pitch while being treated for muscle cramps an act interpreted as behavior that promotes superstition and goes against the principles of fair play.

The match also saw Mbeya City’s Gabriel Daniel hit with a five-match suspension and a TSh1 million fine after punching Namungo’s Rajabu Abdallah.

In a related decision, center referee Gilbert Mrina from Kilimanjaro has been removed from officiating duties for the next three rounds for failing to properly interpret the laws of the game and for not taking immediate action against the violent conduct displayed by Gabriel.

Coastal Union were also fined TZS5 million for violating match protocol by presenting only three officials rather than the required five during the prematch coordination meeting of their fixture against Mbeya City, which they went on to win 2–0.

Additionally, the club’s goalkeeping coach, Issa Shaban, received a stern warning after unlawfully entering the field of play without the referee’s consent while the team’s goalkeeper was receiving medical attention.

TPLB reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline, integrity, and professionalism throughout the league, stressing that all clubs and officials must strictly observe competition regulations.
