Dr. Ekaristo Mwang’ande, a staff member at Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital, has been recognized as the Best Student in the Master of Dentistry in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics during the 19th graduation ceremony of the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) held in Dar es Salaam.
The recognition places Dr. Mwang’ande among the country’s top young dental specialists, highlighting the rising expertise within Tanzania’s health sector.
MUHAS Chancellor Prof. David Mwakyusa applauded outstanding graduates for their commitment to academic excellence, saying Dr. Mwang’ande’s performance reflects “dedication, patriotism, and a strong desire to advance the nation’s healthcare standards.”
He added that such achievements set a benchmark for other students and health professionals nationwide.
Speaking after receiving his award, Dr. Mwang’ande credited his success to the teamwork and support he received throughout his studies.
“This is a shared victory,” he said. “I appreciate the support from my fellow students, MUHAS leadership, Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital, colleagues, and my family. I encourage health students to stay focused and believe that hard work always pays off.”he added
The Executive Director of Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital, Dr. Godlove Mbwanji, joined staff in congratulating Dr. Mwang’ande, noting that his excellence serves as motivation to others within the institution.
He said the achievement reflects the hospital’s commitment to nurturing skilled professionals who can contribute to the country’s healthcare development.
Dr. Mwang’ande, who was also named Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital’s Best Worker in 2021, is expected to continue inspiring young practitioners as he advances his career and serves the community.
