The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has warned of heavy rains affecting several regions across the country in the coming days. Residents are advised to take precautions as localized flooding may occur.
Today, Monday, December 29, 2025, southern and southwestern regions, including Rukwa, Songwe, Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Morogoro, Ruvuma, Lindi, and Mtwara, are likely to experience heavy rainfall.
The TMA rates both the likelihood and potential impact as medium, with possible localized flooding in some areas.
The system is expected to shift on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, affecting northern and southeastern coastal areas such as Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Mara, Simiyu, Mwanza, Lindi, Mtwara, and the southern part of Pwani, including Mafia Isles. Localized floods may also occur in these regions.
The TMA reports that from Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026, weather conditions are expected to improve, with no heavy rain warnings issued.
Authorities remind residents in affected areas to remain vigilant, protect property, avoid flooded areas, and follow official guidance.
The TMA emphasizes: “Please be prepared” for possible localized flooding during the advisory period.
