Slovakia has officially opened its embassy in Tanzania, with Ivan Lančarič, the country’s first ambassador to Tanzania, presenting his Letters of Credence to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr. Ngwaru Maghembe, in Dodoma today.
The new embassy is part of Slovakia’s strategy to expand its diplomatic presence across Africa and reflects the growing importance of Tanzania as a regional partner.
Ambassador Lančarič highlighted that the mission will not only cover Tanzania but also other African countries including Zambia, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Burundi, Gabon, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea.
Receiving the credentials, Dr. Maghembe described the embassy’s opening as a milestone in Tanzania’s diplomacy under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
He said it would serve as a key driver for strengthening cooperation in investment, trade, and tourism between the two countries.
“This embassy will act as a catalyst for expanding diplomatic relations and fostering economic collaboration with Slovakia,” Dr. Maghembe noted.
The move is expected to open new opportunities for business, cultural exchange, and regional cooperation, signaling a promising chapter in Tanzania-Slovakia relations.
