Tanzanian long-distance runner Alphonce Felix Simbu has described 2025 as a truly rewarding year, citing increased exposure and strong performances in several international competitions.
Speaking in a recent interview, Simbu said the milestones he has achieved this year were made possible by the support of the Chief of Defence Forces, whose leadership has opened doors for athletes to compete beyond the country’s borders.
“I am deeply grateful to the Chief of Defence Forces for giving us the opportunity to compete at the international level. We assure the leadership that we will continue to work harder and deliver even better results,” Simbu said.
He also praised President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her unwavering support and motivation to athletes, noting that her commitment has played a significant role in strengthening sports development nationwide.
Simbu added that the continued investment in sports has not only boosted athletes’ morale but has also enhanced Tanzania’s visibility on the global sporting stage.
