Mara Region Special Seats Member of Parliament Ghati Zephania Chomete has called on residents of the region to safeguard peace and unity, describing them as key pillars for development, particularly in the mining sector.
Ms Chomete made the call on December 24, 2025, during a meeting with the Director of FREGOM Ltd, a gold mining and trading company, Mr Fredy Masiaga.
The meeting was held at the company’s offices at the Gold Central Market in Musoma Municipality.
She said that although FREGOM Ltd is engaged in gold mining and trading, the company has also played a leading role in supporting small-scale miners by providing training, equipment and access to capital, initiatives she said have helped improve productivity and livelihoods in mining communities.
The MP commended the company’s management for its commitment to empowering artisanal miners, noting that such efforts contribute significantly to the growth of the mining sector and the local economy.
Ms Chomete also praised FREGOM Ltd for its social responsibility initiatives, saying the company has consistently extended support to various social groups within and outside Mara Region.
Using the occasion of the Christmas and New Year festivities, she extended her best wishes to residents of Mara Region and urged them to continue protecting peace and stability for the benefit of the region and the country as a whole.
