By The Respondents Reporter

The Sabasaba Zoo has been officially opened, offering residents of Dar es Salaam and neighbouring regions a unique attraction during the Christmas and New Year holidays at the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Grounds.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbasi, visited the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) headquarters and held discussions with TanTrade Director General, Dr Latifa Mohamed Khamis, as part of an inspection of preparations at the zoo.

Dr Abbasi used the occasion to invite wananchi to visit the Sabasaba grounds to experience a range of wildlife attractions, noting that visitors will have an opportunity to see various animals and, under professional supervision, take part in feeding an elephant.

He said the animals will be on display throughout the festive season, enabling families and children to enjoy the experience during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

According to Dr Abbasi, the Sabasaba Zoo will remain open to the public until January 5, 2026.

The initiative is part of government efforts to promote domestic tourism while providing recreational and educational opportunities for the public during the end-of-year celebrations.
