The Shinyanga Regional Mining Office has set a new record after exceeding its revenue collection target for the July–December 2025 period, collecting TZS22.66 billion, equivalent to 142 per cent of the target for the period.
The milestone was announced on December 30, 2025 by the Regional Resident Mines Officer (RMO), Engineer Noel B. Odera, during an inspection visit by the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Minerals, Msafiri Mbibo.
Engineer Odera said the region was assigned an annual revenue collection target of TZS32 billion for the 2025/2026 financial year. As of December 24, 2025, the office had already collected TZS22,667,691,491.01, representing 71 per cent of the annual target achieved within the first six months of the financial year.
He said the strong performance reflects improved systems, close supervision of mining activities and effective collaboration among staff, which have strengthened compliance and efficiency in revenue collection across the region.
Commending the achievement, Mr Mbibo congratulated the leadership and staff of the Shinyanga Regional Mining Office, noting that teamwork and discipline were key drivers of the success.
“This is a clear example of how teamwork delivers tangible results. Maintain this unity and commitment, as they are the backbone of these impressive collections. The government values and takes pride in such levels of performance,” he said.
Staff at the RMO-Shinyanga office said the recognition had boosted their morale, pledging to maintain the pace of revenue collection while upholding accountability, integrity and high standards of service to stakeholders in the mining sector.
The record-breaking performance highlights the positive impact of strong coordination, effective management and transparency in public institutions, contributing significantly to government revenue and the sustainable growth of Tanzania’s mining sector.
