Peace and calm prevailed across Dar es Salaam during Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations, as thousands of residents turned out at various locations in the city to mark the festive season.
Christmas, one of the most significant celebrations for Christians worldwide, continued into its second day on Thursday with Boxing Day, traditionally associated with the exchange of gifts and social gatherings.
Across the city, residents were seen enjoying the holiday atmosphere at popular spots such as Coco Beach in Kinondoni District and major shopping and leisure centres, including Mlimani City.
A strong security presence was evident in areas that attracted large crowds. Police officers conducted foot patrols, mounted patrols on horseback and vehicle patrols to ensure public safety and smooth celebrations.
The measures helped maintain order as families and friends gathered to relax and celebrate the holiday.
Many residents praised the government and the Police Force for ensuring peace and security during the festive period, noting that the calm environment allowed people to celebrate freely without fear or disruption.
The peaceful celebrations come amid heightened public awareness following the failed organisation of unlawful demonstrations earlier this month.
After unsuccessful attempts to plan and coordinate illegal protests on December 9, 2025, some activists had called for similar actions to take place during the Christmas holidays.
However, such calls were widely rejected by the public, with many Tanzanians stressing the importance of peace, stability and unity as foundations for national development and individual well-being.
As festivities continue, authorities have reiterated their call for residents to uphold peace, cooperate with security agencies and celebrate responsibly to ensure the holiday season ends safely and harmoniously for all.
