NMB Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ) to sponsor the NMB Mapinduzi Cup 2026 as the tournament’s main sponsor, reinforcing efforts to honour the ideals of the Glorious Zanzibar Revolution.
The agreement highlights the Bank’s commitment to partnering with the government in using sports as a unifying force, a platform for nurturing youth talent and a tool for promoting Zanzibar beyond its borders.
Through this partnership, NMB Bank aims to strengthen national cohesion while supporting the development of competitive football in the Isles.
The sponsorship goes beyond facilitating the successful staging of the tournament. It reflects the growing role of the private sector in promoting Zanzibar as an emerging hub for sports, tourism and investment.
Over the years, the Mapinduzi Cup has evolved into a major regional competition, drawing teams and fans from within and outside Tanzania, and contributing to the local economy through increased tourism and business activity.
