The opponent of seasoned Tanzanian boxer Hassan Mwakinyo, Stanley Eribo of Nigeria, is expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam tomorrow alongside several other international fighters ahead of the much-anticipated Boxing on Boxing Day event scheduled for December 26.

The international boxing spectacle will take place at the Warehouse Arena in Masaki and is already generating excitement among boxing fans, as it brings together male and female fighters from different countries.

Speaking to The Respondents Online, the event organiser, Major Selemani Semunyu, said preparations for the tournament are at an advanced stage, with organisers focusing on the timely arrival and welfare of foreign boxers.

“All logistical arrangements are complete. We are now ensuring that visiting boxers arrive on schedule starting tomorrow so they have enough time to acclimatise and prepare for their respective bouts,” said Major Semunyu.

He added that the event reflects Tanzania’s growing profile on the international boxing scene, noting that fighters from across the region will compete in what is expected to be a highly competitive card.

Among the confirmed bouts, Hamadi Furahisha will face Malawi’s Hanock Phiri, while Ally Ngwando is set to take on Mussa Makuka. Issa Simba of Kahama will also be in action against Wilson Phiri of Malawi.

The women’s division will feature Hidaya Zahoro from Morogoro against Dar es Salaam’s Leila Macho, as Debora Mwenda goes head-to-head with Malawi’s Mariam Dick.
