The Tanzania Police Force has intensified security operations across the country ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, assuring citizens that measures are in place to maintain peace, safety and public order during and after the festive season.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 22, 2025, Police Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) David Misime said the police, working closely with other defence and security agencies, will continue to strengthen security arrangements to ensure people celebrate the holidays in a safe and peaceful environment.
DCP Misime called on all citizens to recognise and uphold the value of peace and security, noting that their protection is a shared responsibility that requires cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the public.
The police also urged people travelling during the holidays to strictly observe road safety rules to reduce the risk of accidents. Road users were reminded of the Road Safety Week slogan, “Drive safely, your family is waiting for you,” as traffic volumes are expected to increase significantly during the festive period.
“Our lives and activities during these holidays require a peaceful environment so that everyone can attend religious services, spend time with family and friends, and celebrate without any form of disturbance. Protecting peace calls for collective effort and cooperation from all,” the statement said.
The police further appealed to citizens and visitors to remain vigilant and to reject any acts or intentions aimed at disrupting peace and security during the festivities and beyond.
According to the police, the country’s overall security situation remains calm, despite a few isolated incidents of disorder reported in some areas.
The force attributed the prevailing stability to Tanzanians’ growing awareness of the importance of safeguarding peace, tranquillity and security as key enablers of social and economic activities.
