The Minister of Energy, Deugratius Ndejembi, has called on the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) to treat all oil investors fairly, ensuring decisions are guided by law and not personal interests.

He emphasized that fairness and transparency are vital for creating a healthy investment environment that benefits all Tanzanians.

Speaking during a meeting with EWURA leaders and officials in Dodoma, Hon. Ndejembi said some investors have been unfairly penalized while others face fewer consequences for similar challenges. He warned that such practices would no longer be tolerated.

“EWURA is a key institution for national security. We must put the interests of our nation first, support investor confidence, and maintain emergency oil reserves for unexpected situations,” he said.

The Minister also stressed the need for accountability and integrity among EWURA staff, noting that any employee who violates the law or procedures would face strict disciplinary measures.

Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Innocent Luoga, praised EWURA for its role in growing the oil sector and assured that the Ministry would continue supporting the authority to implement President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s priorities.

EWURA Director General, Dr. James Andilile, highlighted the authority’s efforts to educate citizens on the use of LPG in vehicles and to ensure fuel availability in rural areas, improving access for ordinary Tanzanians.

Ndejembi’s message underlines the government’s commitment to balancing national interests with investor confidence, ensuring the oil sector grows responsibly while securing benefits for the country.
