Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, today met with senior officials from Perseus Mining to review progress on the Nyanzaga Gold Project, a strategic investment expected to boost economic growth and expand opportunities for communities in Sengerema District.

The delegation from Perseus was led by Group Chief Financial Officer and Nyanzaga Project Board Director, Ms. Lee-Anne de Bruin, accompanied by Mr. Matt Cavedon, General Manager and Board Director, and Mr. Isaac Lupokela, the Project’s Chief Financial Officer.

Their discussions focused on the milestones reached so far in establishing the mine and the next steps required to advance the project toward full development.

Minister Mavunde emphasized that the government wants the project to produce meaningful benefits for citizens, particularly through job creation and improved livelihoods for the people of Sengerema.

We are committed to working closely with investors to ensure the Nyanzaga Gold Mine is developed effectively and contributes directly to Tanzania’s economic progress,” he said.

The officials from Perseus highlighted the progress made in the preparatory stages and assured the minister that the company remains committed to timely and responsible implementation of the investment.

Once operational, the Nyanzaga Gold Mine is expected to open up new employment opportunities, support local suppliers, and increase national revenues from the mineral sector. The government says it will continue strengthening cooperation with investors to ensure the project moves forward smoothly and sustainably.
