Gocalves applauds Yanga’s performance in narrow victory over Coastal Union

Yanga SC head coach Pedro Gocalves has praised his team for their resilient performance in a hard-fought match against Coastal Union at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.

Yanga secured a slim 1-0 victory, claiming three vital points that propelled them to second place in the NBC Premier League standings.

Speaking after the game, Gocalves described the encounter as challenging but lauded his players for their determination and discipline in securing the win.

He noted that the main obstacle was the poor condition of the pitch, which limited scoring opportunities, despite Coastal Union being more familiar with the stadium.

“Now we are heading into the break, and we will return focused and prepared for the upcoming league matches,” Gocalves said.

Coastal Union head coach Mohammed Muya acknowledged that Yanga’s superior quality was decisive in their defeat.

He praised his players for their effort, saying they fought hard to defend and attack but were unlucky in the final minutes, conceding the lone goal.

“I congratulate my players for their commitment until the final whistle. It was not our day, but the technical bench did everything possible. There is no one to blame. We will regroup and focus on the next matches,” Muya said.
