Edna Lema: Loss to Simba Queens will not break our spirit

By Flora Mkoloma

Yanga Princess head coach Edna Lema has played down her team’s 2–0 defeat to Simba Queens, insisting the setback has not shaken their determination to challenge for the Women’s Premier League title this season.

Speaking after the closely contested match played yesterday, Lema said her side still has many fixtures ahead and remains fully focused on fighting for positive results as the title race continues.

She noted that Yanga Princess delivered a solid performance but were punished for failing to capitalize on the scoring opportunities they created.

“We played well and created chances, but the results did not go our way. Football can be cruel sometimes,” said Lema.

“We will work on the areas where we fell short to make sure the same mistakes do not happen again in the next matches.”she added

Lema congratulated Simba Queens for the victory, acknowledging that the encounter was demanding for both teams.

She added that her side has accepted the outcome and is now turning attention to upcoming league assignments.

According to the coach, minor lapses particularly poor finishing proved costly, as Simba Queens took advantage of those moments to score in both halves.

Simba Queens head coach Mussa Mgosi, meanwhile, praised his players for executing the technical bench’s instructions, which he said has been the foundation of their consistent run of victories.

“The match is over. We have reviewed what we did well and where we need to improve, and now we focus on preparing better for the next games,” said Mgosi.

He also applauded Yanga Princess for their competitiveness, describing the match as high-quality and entertaining, with both sides showing strong intent throughout.
