Tanzanite miners in Mirerani, Simanjiro District, are set to benefit from improved healthcare and water access thanks to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by Franone Mining Ltd and God Charity.
The Minister of Minerals, Anthony Peter Mavunde, said these initiatives demonstrate how private companies and charitable organizations can directly improve the wellbeing of mining communities.
Franone Mining has pledged to build a dispensary at the Tanzanite mining site, providing essential healthcare services to miners and their families.
This facility will ensure miners receive timely medical attention, reducing health risks associated with mining work.
God Charity has also contributed by donating a water well to support miners and their households, helping address the community’s need for safe and reliable water access.
“These projects show how businesses and charities can work together to improve living conditions for miners and their families. Initiatives like these are vital for community development,” Minister Mavunde said.
Earlier, Franone Mining Director, Onesmo Mbise, personally committed TZS 10 million towards the dispensary’s construction at the Tomarini green mining site in Lemshuku, Komolo Ward. Responding to the Minister’s call for support with construction materials and labor costs, Mbise confirmed his contribution.
“Having grown up here in Lemshuku, I feel responsible for supporting this community. I am proud to contribute TZS 10 million towards the dispensary,” Mbise said.
These CSR projects not only provide healthcare and water access but also set an example for other companies operating in Tanzanite mining areas to invest in community welfare.
Local residents and miners have welcomed the initiatives, seeing them as tangible improvements to their daily lives.
