The Minister for Water, Jumaa Aweso (MP), has expressed satisfaction with the increased volume of water entering the Upper Ruvu Water Treatment Plant in Kibaha District, describing it as a promising step toward stabilising water services in Dar es Salaam and Coast Region.

During an inspection visit, the minister said the ongoing improvements reflect strong efforts by the government, through the Ministry of Water, DAWASA, and the Wami–Ruvu Basin Water Board, to address recent water shortages that have affected millions of residents.

“I have seen the progress, and I am truly encouraged. It gives me great confidence that we will successfully navigate this transition period. I commend DAWASA, the Wami–Ruvu Basin, security organs, and all stakeholders who are working diligently to ensure timely completion of this exercise,” Aweso said.

He noted that the development marks an important milestone in the government’s commitment to restoring reliable and sustainable water supply.

Aweso urged residents to continue using water responsibly and to maintain proper storage practices as the system stabilises.

“We have received good news from the Tanzania Meteorological Authority indicating that rains have started. Some parts of Morogoro received rainfall yesterday. I am confident that we will overcome this temporary phase and return to normal operations,” he added.

Aweso further assured the public that the available water will be distributed equitably to ensure all communities receive their fair share during the ongoing adjustments.
