The Apton School has once again demonstrated its commitment to community welfare, organizing a remarkable fundraising campaign to support children undergoing cancer treatment at Tumaini la Maisha (TLM).
Under the leadership of Head of School Ms. Bindu D. Sangani, with support from Managing Director Mr. Nikhil Sangani and Patrons Mr. and Mrs.
Navin Kanabar, the school united students, parents, teachers, and management in a vibrant effort that exemplified the spirit of service and compassion.
Through initiatives such as the Kibubu Box Collection and a lively Food Fair organized by the school’s Entrepreneurs Club, the school raised a total of Tshs 13,287,750/-, along with foreign currency donations including $25 and €10.
Generous contributions of clothes, books, shoes, and other essentials were also handed over to TLM.
In addition, Kidz Kollege, the school’s sister preschool, contributed Tshs 4,250,000/- toward the initiative.
Speaking to the media, Ms. Sangani expressed gratitude to the school community, saying, “We are sincerely thankful to all our parents and children for supporting the lives of these young ones with such kindness and enthusiasm. This initiative not only brings relief to TLM children but also teaches our students to care, share, and contribute with purpose.”
Mr. Nikhil Sangani commended the school’s community spirit, noting, “This initiative shows what we can achieve when the entire school community comes together with one purpose. We are extremely proud of our students, parents, and teachers.”
School Director Ms. Sheila Badiani praised the values-based approach, stating, “The generosity shown reflects how deeply our values are rooted in compassion and service. I am incredibly proud of our entire community.”
Patrons Mr. and Mrs. Kanabar highlighted the power of unity and the lessons students gain from participation.
“Every contribution—big or small—has helped us reach this achievement. Initiatives like these build character, strengthen community bonds, and teach children the importance of responsibility and giving,” they said.
Students also shared their reflections.
Toby said, “I learned that even a small contribution can help someone who needs it more than us. It made me feel happy to help.” Kaylar added, “We understood empathy—not just feeling sorry for others but doing something to support them. This activity taught us teamwork and showed that our effort makes a difference.”
From the youngest in Kidz Kollege to senior primary and lower secondary students, the experience reinforced important life lessons: helping others fosters responsibility, empathy, and a sense of community.
The Apton School continues to set an example as an institution committed to excellence, values, and service.
Through initiatives like this, students gain meaningful experiences that shape character, compassion, and leadership while contributing tangibly to the wellbeing of others.
