Staff from the Lake Victoria Basin Water Board have commenced a five-day training programme on the Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

The training, facilitated by experts from the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA), is being held at the Board’s headquarters in Mwanza as part of broader efforts to strengthen service delivery and prepare for international certification.

Speaking during the opening session, the Board’s Director, Dr. Renatus Shinhu, described the training as a crucial milestone in the institution’s journey toward operational excellence.

He said the programme aims to enhance internal work systems, improve services for stakeholders, promote transparency and accountability, and reduce errors and unnecessary costs.

Dr. Shinhu emphasized that adopting a QMS framework will not only boost efficiency but also build greater public trust in the institution’s work.

“This training will help participants develop a shared understanding of professional conduct, adherence to quality procedures, and effective execution of their responsibilities,” he said.

He further reminded staff that the successful implementation of the QMS depends on the collective commitment of all employees.

“Quality is everyone’s responsibility. The sustainability of this system requires teamwork and consistency from every staff member,” he added.

Dr. Shinhu expressed gratitude to TMA experts for delivering the training and reaffirmed the Board’s full cooperation to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification.
