Dar es Salaam. Graduates of the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) have been called upon to use their knowledge and skills to drive national development, solve community challenges, and contribute to Tanzania’s growing digital economy.
Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Elijah Mwandumbya, speaking on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omary, said the country now depends on a new generation of professionals capable of turning ideas into solutions that benefit citizens.
“These graduates are joining the workforce at a time when Tanzania is undergoing rapid technological change. Communities need professionals who can improve public services, strengthen businesses, and create digital solutions,” Mwandumbya said during IFM’s 51st graduation ceremony at Diamond Jubilee Hall.
He added that the government is committed to investing in modern educational facilities and updating university programmes to ensure graduates have the skills required for the 21st-century economy.
“Opportunities in the job market are vast, but graduates should not wait for employment alone. Innovation, entrepreneurship, and community-based solutions are the keys to success,” he said.
IFM Council Chairperson, Prof. Emanuel Mjema, urged graduates to uphold integrity and professionalism, emphasizing that ethical conduct is vital to earning public trust and positively impacting society.
“Your education is a tool to solve real problems in the community. Integrity and accountability must guide your work,” Prof. Mjema said.
IFM Rector, Prof. Josephat Lotto, highlighted that the number of students enrolling each year is increasing due to growing demand for skilled professionals in finance and technology.
He also noted that the institution has expanded its programmes to prepare graduates to meet national and global development needs.
This year’s graduation is not only a milestone for students but also a call for graduates to actively contribute to Tanzania’s economic growth, digital transformation, and community development.
